Updating Regular or Special Hours on Your Google Business Profile

Keeping your business hours accurate helps customers know when you're open and prevents frustration from arriving at the wrong time. Google also recommends keeping your hours up to date, especially during public holidays, special events, or seasonal trading periods.

How to Add Special Hours or Public Holidays

Special Hours allow you to set temporary opening or closing times for specific dates without affecting your regular business hours. This is particularly useful for public holidays, festive periods, special events, or days when your business will be closing earlier than usual.

Step 1: Open the Hours Section

  1. Navigate to Edit your business information.
  2. Select Hours.
  3. Scroll down and click on Special Hours.
  4. Google may automatically suggest upcoming public holidays for review as seen in the image below. You can click Review to confirm your hours for those dates, or you can manually add dates in advance. Updating Regular or Special Hours on Your Google Business Profile
  5. If you would like to manually add dates in advance, click "Add a date". Then select the relevant date, enter your opening/closing times and save the changes. In the example above, 25 December 2026 (Christmas Day) has been added as a special date and marked as Closed, ensuring customers know the business will not be operating on that day.
Tip: We recommend updating your Special Hours at least a few days before public holidays to avoid confusion and ensure customers always have accurate information.
